6:00 – 6:45: Arrive and Enjoy a light supper and Beverages
6:45 – 7:15: FOLLOW-UP on Identified Topics of Interest and Information regarding specific related resources
At the February Session we asked for Ideas/Suggestions Relating to the following topics and/or areas of Disability Issues that would be of interest to participants as follows:
- RDSP, DISABILITY TAX CREDIT
- DISCRETIONARY (Henson) TRUST
- INDIVIDUALIZED HOME OPTIONS
- INDIVIDUALIZED FUNDING
- MCCSS DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES REFORM FRAMEWORK
Additional Topics of interest identified were:
- POA, GUARDIANSHIP
- PASSPORT FUNDING- WHAT is allowed/How to Use,
- HOW to INCREASE PASSPORT
- MICROBOARDS
Joyce Rivington will provide some Basic Information on above topics and Important Resources as a knowledge base that can be built on at Future Meetings.
7:15 – 7:30: Importance of Identifying a person’s STRENGTHS and SUPPORT NEEDS required to achieve SUCCESS
Cora Nolan will explain why it is important for the PERSON’S STRENGTHS and SUPPORT NEEDS to be clearly identified to ensure SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION from School as well as SUCCESSFUL FUTURE OUTCOMES in the COMMUNITY.
7:30 – 8:00: TRANSITION PLANNING and RECENT EXPERIENCE
Julie Welch is going to share her recent experiences in helping her daughter plan for her future while still in school – ACTION STEPS she has taken; where her daughter is now on the TRANSITION JOURNEY to her LIFE AFTER SCHOOL.
8:00 – 8:10: Take a Short Break for Snacks and Beverages
8:10 – 9:00: Participant Comments, Input, Questions & Discussion
SUGGESTION # 1: Bring a Binder with Dividers to Start Collecting RESOURCES/INFO
SUGGESTION # 2: Leigh Anne Giardino has connected with the DSO and a representative could be available to provide information to families and answer questions at one of our future meetings. If families are interested, perhaps at our April or May meeting, we could make arrangements with the DSO for this to occur.
